Wallaces to Kenya, Africa for 3 months - Overview
The short of it is the Wallaces are soon headed to Africa and could use your help.
Chad has been teaching chemistry at Anderson University for 17 years now and for the past few years has served as Dean for the School of Science & Engineering. He is also very involved at church as an elder/pastor and youth leader.
Amy has been homeschooling the boys, Carson (9th grade) and Mason (7th grade) for the past few years. Chad h
as picked up a new role as their basketball coach! Ally is now a freshman at Anderson University studying computer science with a sweet internship at Genesys.
We have some exciting news to share. Rift Valley Academy (RVA.org) is a boarding school in Kenya for the children of African missionaries. They were looking for a teacher for their third term this year to teach high school chemistry for three months. They asked Chad if he knew of anybody who could fill that role. Our family discussed it, and we felt God leading us to go help. AU is graciously allowing Chad to rework his schedule so we can go. So, we have been accepted as short-term missionaries through Africa Inland Mission (AIM) and plan to go to the Rift Valley in Kijabe, Kenya to help serve the missionaries in Africa by serving their children. We will serve for three months from mid-April through July. While Chad teaches chemistry, Amy will be a secretary in the elementary school and find many ways to love on the kids. We are taking the boys with us who will be students at RVA. Ally (and maybe her boyfriend Luke) will join us for two weeks after school lets out until Ally’s internship starts back up. Ally and Luke will serve however RVA can use them. But all of us will serve in the school and will seek ways to serve the local Kenyan community as well.
Chad, Amy, and Ally have been on several week-long missions trips, but this is a VERY new experience for us. We have never been to Africa, and honestly, have no idea what to expect. But, we trust in the Lord’s leading. We will go, and we will pray that we will be able to share the good news of the Gospel. We are praying that God continues to challenge us in our faith and expand our hearts for the nations. We sincerely covet your prayers.
We need prayer for the many, many, many details to see to in a short amount of time. There is some apprehension for our boys, as they will be going to school during our time there. The unknown of what school and life will be like is a little scary. Pray for their trust in the Lord and this to be a very positive experience for them. Finally, pray specifically that God will grant us opportunities to share Christ with the unsaved and that we would be unashamed of the Gospel. Thank you in advance for partnering with us in this exciting opportunity! God bless!
